Paula Ochiel
Development Practitioner

Hi there!
a bit about me:
My name is Paula Ochiel. I'm a data analyst based in Santa Barbara, California. I currently work for ICA as an Impact Associate. My background is in Development Practice, and I have worked with multiple non-profits and international development agencies across the United States and Kenya.
As an analyst, I examine and translate data into valuable insights
to help solve problems. I help value-aligned organizations make decisions that contribute to a more equitable society, one in which everyone lives a more dignified life.
You'll find me curled up with a book, listening to music, or learning to play guitar in my free time. Right now, I'm catching up on the classics. I just finished reading Richard Wright's Black Boy. It is a magnificent book and a powerful read. Wright's self-determination and ability to capture the experience of a Black man in 1930s America is amazing! Now I am reading Ta-Nehisi Coates' Between the world and me. I just started on this, and I'm really enjoying it so far. My favorite band is Sauti Sol from Kenya.
Career-wise, I am currently looking to transition into a project management role, a research or policy analyst position, or further build my data analytics skills. I would love to connect and share ideas.
